Spring Break by LC Kanon
An all-expenses paid trip to Cancun for spring break? It wasn’t exactly a hard sell for Leigh, Eva, Gia and Joy, frenemies from Arizona Southern University. But all is not well in the land of silver or lead. Soon after arriving, Leigh and the girls stumble upon some cartel carnage—a bloodbath of debauchery that makes even their wildest desert party seem tame.
Instead of doing the proper thing, like contacting the authorities, the girls go down the rabbit hole in this tale of sex, lies and bloodshed. It’s all fun and games until they make the acquaintance of Guero, a cartel kingpin who is none too pleased with their newfound lust for blood money.
These perky coeds aren’t on campus anymore, and after Guero lets them know just how serious he is, they make a run for the border no one will ever forget.

In My Opinion
Don’t judge this book by its cover. At first glance this book looks like a cheesy, spring break novel about spoiled rich kids with attitude. Turns out LC Kanon writes intriguing characters with suspense woven into every chapter. There are dozens of twists and turns through out the novel that keep the reader engaged and fascinated at the often bloody outcomes.
The true gift within this book is the revelation of who the characters really are, rather than who they appear to be. I have often thought that stressful situations show you the true potential of a person. This is exactly what happens to each of these girls as they find themselves entangled in a turf war with drug cartels in Mexico. They have to fight their way home and hope with every step to make it out alive. As they move towards their goal, they are forced to confront their ability to lie, manipulate and even murder to get home.
Surprisingly, the story begins and ends innocently. Everything in between is a loss of naivete as we watch beautiful co-eds transform into hardcore killers and drug runners. They face off with drug bosses and each other. They even find something unexpected in the mix.
Beautifully conceived and well-written, you won’t regret picking this thrilling tale for your next adventure.
